Printer problems

To all – if you arrive at a desk shift and the printer isn’t working, first check it out.  Don’t believe a post-it.  If it’s off, turn it on and see if it’s really not working.  Sometimes the printer recovers after a short rest.

If it still doesn’t work, please report it (call, or email, or use CNAV to submit a trouble ticket, or whatever).  If you don’t see any communication from a library staff member, assume there has been none and begin it yourself.  Often students or student employees will put a sign on the printer saying it isn’t working, but they don’t actually do anything that will begin to get it fixed.  Assume nothing and call it in, please.

Also please remember to clear the print queue so those jobs don’t pop out later when the printer starts working again.

This morning, the printer on the main floor said it wasn’t working, but I turned it on and it did.

In related news, the 9040-1 on the ground floor is misbehaving.  Normally jobs sent to 9040-1 will go to 9040-2 if 9040-1 can’t take them, but Kim reports that it isn’t happening.  So if print jobs are sent downstairs, they need to be redirected specifically to 9040-2 until further notice.

Tech support may be slow today.  Some IT staff are having trouble getting to campus due to the weekend snowfall.
