Scopus changes
The platform for Scopus has changed a bit – it’s morphing into SciVerse, which is bigger and includes more stuff from Elsevier (like ScienceDirect and Scirus). If you’re interested, watch the video.
A couple of things that will make your Scopus searching more pleasant:
- Use the Gett It! button to get fulltext. Even if you see the “pdf download” button, it doesn’t work a lot of the time. The “Link on publisher website” is also dicey. Gett It! is the BEST way to find out if we really have the fulltext or not, and if we don’t, it has the handy ILL link.
- Scopus sorts results by date (reverse chronological). Often it is very very helpful to sort by relevance instead. You can do this with a link that appears (unfortunately in very small print) at the top of the results list. Try it – it really does help a lot.
A bit from their website:
SciVerse - an unprecedented platform for trusted content and applications that accelerate scientific discovery
- Culled from 2,500 journals and 11,000 books
- Averages almost a half-million additions each year
- Includes digitized versions of pre-1995 journal content
- Goes as far back as 1823 issues of The Lancet
Combining your familiar Elsevier products with a new discovery "SciVerse Hub" and community developed applications.
SciVerse will not cause any changes to existing contracts or subscriptions.
